This conference will consider the portrayal of poverty on television; it is being held by the BBC, The Royal Television Society, NCVO and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
It will look at some of the reality TV/doc programmes that have been made in poorer communities: what they are, how they are made, and why audiences watch them.
The conference will also reveal two new pieces of original research; on audience attitudes to poverty and from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation on media use of language.
Manchester Town Hall, November 30th (10.00am – 4.00pm).
