The General Medical Council (GMC) are seeking research on the following issue:
The objectives of the project are to answer the following three research questions:
- Is there evidence that some employers’ local complaints processes, escalation criteria and concern-raising cultures tend to lead to a higher proportion of complaints referred to the GMC being ones that the GMC will need to investigate.
- Can we identify within this some promising approaches that might be transferable to other situations and if so what are these?
- Do different approaches lead to differences in the way different groups of doctors – in terms of their roles, seniority or demographics – are engaged with, or affected by complaints or raising of concerns.
Deadline for proposals: 7 December
