Implications of Sand Excavation Assessment

This project is expected to deliver a comprehensive assessment of the implications of sand extraction on the ecology of Lough Neagh. The project will focus on the implications for the ecological features of Lough Neagh, which are internationally recognised, namely for the Special Protection Area, and the Ramsar designation. The evidence and conclusions that emerge from the research will be used to inform and assist the exercise of the Department of the Environment’s general responsibilities for ensuring the protection and promoting of the features associated with the international designations of the Lough. The information will also be used to support and inform the Department’s Planning functions. As this is a one off specific requirement it is not deemed appropriate to award via separate Lots.

Deadline for proposals: 1 April
