Impact Livestock Losses in Disasters has on Women

World Animal Protection would like to hire a consultant to undertake research on the impact livestock losses in disasters has on women. Key objectives of the research will be: to provide a broad synthesis of the current main theories pertaining to gender and livestock, providing a general contextual background to the roles of women in the keeping of livestock; to provide a broad synthesis of the main research pertaining to the different gender-sensitive responses related to livestock support in the context of a crisis. Differentiating between slow and fast onset crises including good practices on how to address this issue; and, to complete an analysis of the existing data concerning the potential negative effects of livestock losses in disasters on women and households and solutions for strengthening resilience.
