Disability Report: Secondary Analysis of Survey and Administrative Data

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has published a range of analysis of equality data, aimed to inform our equality and human rights measurement framework or specific policy initiatives. In October 2015, the Commission published a report entitled ‘Is Britain Fairer?’ (IBF), which reviewed progress towards greater equality and human rights protection in Britain. The report was based on ten evidence papers that drew on analysis of survey and administrative data as well as qualitative sources. The analysis examined differences between sub-groups with protected characteristics, change over time, and in England, Scotland and Wales. The resulting data tables are available for the ten domains. The Commission now require a secondary analysis of a range of data which will, together with other evidence, inform a Disability Report to be published later in 2016.

Deadline for proposals: 29 June

ESRC    This year, ESRC are separating the Large Grants from the Centres in this funding opportunity.

The competition for Large Grants will open very shortly,  inviting applications  of between £1 million and £2.5 million at 100 per cent FEC. They expect to fund between three to four new Large Grants and the closing date for applications will be in October 2016.

Instead of also including an invitation for Centres applications on an open basis , this time they have announced two calls for research centres in specific areas (to open in June).

One will aim to create a centre on UK housing, with support of £5.6 million over five years. This is a collaboration with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, the Arts and Humanities Research Council and several other organisations within the housing industry. Applications close on 11 October.

The other call will aim to result in two Foundations of Inclusive Growth, with funding from the Global Challenges Research Fund. Each foundation will receive up to £5m over five years, and the deadline is expected to be 6 September.

There is a really detailed article on these centres now available on Research Professional: https://www.researchprofessional.com/0/rr/funding/insight/2016/5/Opportunity-profile–Housing-and-the-Global-South-take-centre-stage.html#sthash.VNepVaZv.dpuf
