EPSRC have just published their Delivery Plan 2016/17-2019/20. All Research Councils publish Delivery Plans as a final product of Government Spending Review. The Plans set out each Council’s funding priorities and outline the activities that they intend to undertake over a given period i.e. this is the document gives some genuine signposts as to what is coming up over next couple of years. We’ve provided a summary below.

- Four Prosperity Outcomes are identified as expected investment areas: Productivity; Connectedness; Resilience; and Health.
- Under the Newton Fund they will continue to prioritise partnerships with China and India. They will continue the programme of joint activities in sustainable energy, as well as exploring opportunities in other ODA-compliant areas, for example water engineering.
- They will partner with business in a number of ways, through one-off involvement in research or training investments, through co-invested research programmes developed between EPSRC academia and business. Expected outcomes include engagement with an increased range of businesses; increased intellectual contribution and financial investment from business; and greater business into EPSRC strategy and peer review.
