New Funds Launched

The Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network has released 3 new funding opportunities today.


The GM AHSN Innovation Funds will support the introduction and adoption of needs-led, evidence-based innovations into the healthcare system within the GM AHSN footprint.  This will improve the health of citizens, whilst promoting economic development and wealth creation through the growth of local businesses and jobs.

Both the Energise and Momentum funds are open for application from today! The deadline for submission is Monday 27th June at 9am.

The Ignite Fund is intended to support clinicians and academics working to develop solutions to unmet healthcare needs. This opportunity will be open for applications later in the year, the next round of funding is anticipated in autumn 2016.

The Energise Fund is specifically designed to support clinicians, academics and companies develop proof of concept or prototyping projects for a defined clinical application. Funding of up to £50k per project is available for projects that last 6-12 months.

The Momentum Fund will provide funding support to help SMEs with innovative products or services accelerate progress to significant milestones. Funding of up to £25k per project is available for projects that last 6-12 months.

GM AHSN will prioritise support to SMEs operating within Greater Manchester, East Lancashire and East Cheshire with innovative products or services that fit within GM AHSN’s current clinical priority areas:

Primary priorities

  • cardiovascular health
  • patient safety (esp. medication error)
  • informatics/digital health

Secondary priorities

  • atrial fibrillation
  • cancer prevention
  • chronic kidney disease
  • dementia care
  • familial hypercholesterolaemia
  • EPaCCs (end of life care)
  • Orthopaedics
