AHRC – call for academics to propose studentships with Collaborative Doctoral Partnership organisations

Leave a comment

The AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnerships (CDP) scheme enables non-HEI Organisations with a strong track record in the Collaborative Doctoral Award scheme, and supporting other doctoral students, to be allocated a cohort of CDA studentships for which they will then be able to nominate projects with academic partners.The intention is to give partners greater autonomy and the ability to develop strong programmes of collaborative PhD study.

Organisations are:

  • British Library
  • Science Museums Group [Includes: Science Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, National Media Museum, National Railway Museum York, National Railway Museum Locomotion Shildon, BT Archives, The Royal Society and The Royal Geographical Society]
  • The British Museum
  • Tate
  • National Football Museum
  • Imperial War Museum
  • V & A
  • Historic England & English Heritage
  • The National Gallery and Bowes Museum
  • Oxford University Museums [includes: Ashmolean,  Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford University Museum of Natural History, Museum of the History of Science]
  • Thames Museum Consortium  [Includes: National Maritime Museum, National Portrait Gallery, The National Archives]
  • Scottish Heritage Consortium  [Includes: National Museums Scotland, ,National Galleries of Scotland, National Library of Scotland, Historic Environment Scotland}

These 12 CDP organisation groups have allocations of studentships to start in the academic years 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 and most are now running calls open to university-based researchers who wish to work with partner staff and archives to propose a collaborative project suitable for subsequently advertising as a studentship commencing in 2017.   Each CDP partner uses a slightly different approach with some specifying key topic areas. All have a deadline of 25th November

Details of the CDP scheme, the partners and previous studentships are all available on the programme website:

I have also collated details of the current Calls for proposals from each of the partner websites on a Word document here: summary-of-ahrc-collaborative-doctoral-partnerships-calls-autumn-2016
