Manchester Met has an exciting opportunity to work with the Ideal Home Show to design, develop and ‘stock’ an “age-friendly” show home for the 2018 exhibition in London and Manchester.
The visitor experience should be informed by research, so we are inviting the research community to contribute ideas to the project. What does your research say about ageing and/or the home environment for older people? How could your findings be visualised, expressed or explained through the show home’s design, its fixtures, fittings and furnishings, products, technologies, layout or materials? Could the project support your current research?
Masters Architecture students are already working on the project to develop designs for the show home. Led by a professional team of staff and consultants, they will follow the world-leading best practice which has been developed through the Manchester Age Friendly Neighbourhoods (MAFN) project. Students will co-design elements of the show home with local older people and community groups.
