Research to support an inquiry into young people’s future health prospects

The Health Foundation are commissioning research  to further the understanding of factors that shape young people’s future health prospects to inform a Health Foundation inquiry into this topic. The project requires a research partner with a track record of high quality policy and practice research in the field of young people (specifically between the ages of 12 and 24 years old and transitions to adulthood). The intention is to produce a quantitative picture of the factors that contribute to today’s young people having healthy lives, now and in the future and recommendations on the actions necessary to improve future health prospects.

An information call will be held on Wednesday 17 May 2017.

Deadline: 5 June

Funding Available: £180,000

UK-London: British Council Culture & Sports Programmes

The British Council arelooking to implement a vast Culture & Sports programme in all GCC countries which will include an array of activities such as art exhibitions, smartphone film festivals, and women in sports journalism. We are seeking to communicate a selection of these programmes over the course of 2017-18 in a way that engages 15-25 year olds on digital platforms and that positions us as contributing to the government visions in the Gulf through high impact PR opportunities. We are looking for an agency that can come up with compelling campaign concepts that cut through the noise and effectively implement these working in partnership with the British Council and its country teams. The suppliers with a proposal of above 70,000 thousand GBP will regrettably not be considered for the tender.

UK-Swansea: Tender for IMPACT Evaluation

University Of Strathclyde is looking to appoint a suitably experienced public opinion or market research company to conduct a citizen survey on our behalf. The survey aims to understand citizens’ perceptions of EU Cohesion policy and the impact on their attitudes towards the EU.

Research to Explore and Define Family Learning in Libraries

Society Of Chief Librarians is commisioning research to define the concept of family learning and how it is different from other types of learning. As part of this it will also be important to define ‘family’ in order to support public libraries to target and market their family learning opportunities. In addition it will be important to map the current landscape of learning opportunities in libraries and of family learning within that. Finally, consultancy support and recommendations will be needed to help shape a clear and simple offer that can be shared with library services through a series of road shows due to take place in 2017-18 to promote family learning opportunities in libraries.

Research on UK Manufacturing Opportunities of Moving to a Low-Carbon Economy

Committee On Climate Change is commissioning research to 1.) Assess the current size and importance of the UK low-carbon economy. 2.) Assess what new materials, goods and services will be needed in transitioning to a low-carbon global economy and where the UK is best placed to supply these new markets. 3.) Assess nature and scale of barriers for UK firms to develop in these new markets and where government policy could play a role.

Obesity Research

Braintree District Council is commissioning research into Livewell, a 3-year campaign aimed at reducing the proportion of children who become overweight or obese during primary school (from their baseline) and to increase the physical activity levels of all children. This project design is based on a whole systems approach to obesity. It incorporates the Foresight Report findings and supports the Government Childhood Obesity Action Plan (DoH, 2016). BDC requires an evaluation for first year of the Livewell programme. This first year will be seen as a pilot and outcomes will then influence the next stages of the programme.
